Volunteer Spotlight

CASA Volunteer - Genie Narkon

Genie Narkon feels that being a CASA volunteer is by far the most rewarding act of volunteerism she’s ever experienced.  Meet Genie and other CASA Volunteers.

Last year, over 1,100 Denver County abused or neglected children entered foster care. Many become trapped in the court and child welfare maze, because, as children, they couldn't advocate for themselves.

CASA’s child advocate volunteers serve as their voices, linking them with the services and support they need. Court appointed special advocates volunteer a few days each month and change their lives forever.

Volunteering your time, providing financial support, or lending other skills makes a big difference to foster kids.  Just ask the more than 3,000 children served by CASA.

  • Last year, our foster child advocate volunteers helped over 30% of children in the Denver foster care system - they dedicated and contributed over 10,000 hours of service valued at $515,250.
  • Children and parents supported by a court appointed child advocate receive more services.
  • Children with a court appointed child advocate prove more likely to find their forever homes.

 Give a Child a VOICE

"To give a child a CASA is to give them a voice. To give them a voice is to give them hope, and to give them hope is to give them the world.”

-Pamela Butler, former CASA child
